Asia-wide expansion!

After 12 years of working at the sub-regional level, South Asia Women's Fund is expanding its work to include the rest of Asia! With this expansion, SAWF will continue its mandate as a women's fund bringing essential fiscal resources and technical support to women's groups and activists working on strengthening and furthering women's human rights in Asia. We will also continue our work on facilitating regional collaboration, linking and learning and movement building at the larger regional level!

As of 2017, SAWF will service the following countries:

South Asia: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka in the South Asia region.

South East and East Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste,Vietnam and Mongolia.

Leading from the South is a special fund created to resource women’s rights activism in the global South (over four years), initiated by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It supports activism devised, implemented, and led by women’s rights organisations in the global South. The fund is being implemented by four women’s funds: Three regional Funds - African Women’s Development Fund (Africa and the Middle East), Fondo Mujeres del Sur (Latin America and the Caribbean) and South Asia Women Fund (Asia); and one global fund AYNI – the Indigenous Women’s Fund.
